Mountain View Global Breeding Program
Of the 50+ species breeding and thriving at Mountain View, close to two thirds are part of our Global Breeding Program.
In this program we are working to preserve the genetic integrity of the animal species in our care. We know these animals are threatened or endangered and many of them are not in the wild at all. It’s critical that the genetic viability and natural behaviour of these animals are preserved so that when the opportunity arises to return them to their natural habitat there is viable stock available.
We believe that all the animals in our care are here because we are protecting the national treasures of their country of origin. These are not our animals. We are their guardians. Global Breeding encompasses species from Asia, South America, North America and various regions of Africa.
Mountain View has been particularly successful with our African Painted Dog Program.
